Corsica and enjoying my free time with outdoor activities simply belong together for me. The countless possibilities offer plenty of variety and there is something for every taste. Of course, the selection is larger in summer, but late autumn and winter also have a lot to offer.
Although there is no mass tourism on the island, the difference between summer and winter is considerable. Most hotels and restaurants close in November and don’t reopen until April, as do beach bars and tourist activity providers. Diving excursions, boat tours, jet skiing, jeep safaris, quad tours and similar are also on the program in summer, but the rest of the time the selection is largely limited to activities that are operated with your own muscle power and it becomes quiet and contemplative on the island.

Due to the Mediterranean climate, the average temperatures in January and February are around 14 degrees. Outdoor activities are therefore possible all year round without major restrictions. Of course, the heat in the summer and the snow in the mountains in the winter have to be considered. High-altitude hiking trails are often impassable in winter because of the meter-deep snow, whereas these regions invite you to rest in summer.
At higher temperatures you should definitely make sure to drink enough. Springs and mountain streams offer a good opportunity to replenish the water supply. I’ve drunk from all sorts of sources and there hasn’t been a single nasty surprise.
There are also sources in other places that anyone can use, such as in Zilia or near the small church of Notre Dame de la Serra.

Every season has its peculiarities and offers very special impressions. If in summer it is the variety of possibilities, in winter it is the peace and tranquillity. In autumn, with the first downpours, the macchia slowly begins to turn green and the sea, still warm from the summer, invites you to swim. And in spring, when nature blossoms, the scent of herbs and flowers spreads over the entire island.
Even Napoleon Bonaparte, probably the most famous Corsican, said “I smell Corsica” when he passed the island by ship.

Seeing the island from above with its mountains, rugged valleys and coastline is undoubtedly an unforgettable experience.
The picturesque bay of Calvi, following the coast over the Saleccia beach to Corte, into the high mountains with over 2700 meters, to Porto on the west coast and back to Calvi via La Scandola. The whole world in an hour.

Those who like to get on their bikes will be rewarded with incomparable views and lasting impressions.

Many of the most beautiful places on this island can only be reached on foot. The network of hiking trails is well developed, but generally much more time-consuming and exhausting than, for example, hiking trails in the Alps. As a hiking guide, I am happy to share my experiences and lead you to the summit and back.

A flat sandy beach, gentle vineyards, paths along the cliffs – almost an invitation to run. One should not forget to look at the way with all the impressions.

The sea around Corsica is crystal clear with many bays, rocky sections and the cliffs in the west. Why not see the island from the sea on a boat tour?

For the sake of completeness, it should be mentioned that Calvi has one of the most beautiful beaches and that the refreshing sea offers a welcome refreshment after any activity. The water is usually above 20°C well into November.
