Cirque de Bonifatu - easy to reach from Calvi

The Cirque de Bonifatu is the starting point for many hikes. Located just a few kilometres south of Calvi, you can experience Corsican nature up close.
Also, easy to reach by bike via the airport road, as in the tour below. An alternative is the path above Clos Landry through L’Enclos des Anges. The upper part of this path is very rocky, but mobile.

You should always be prepared for the temperature difference on this tour. I started in Calvi at 16 degrees and the ground was frozen at 600 m. Since this is the north side of the mountains that are more than 2000 m high, it can get chilly depending on the strength of the fall winds.

On the route there are many dead ends in the mountains, some of which I have ridden here. The end of the Piste du Roncu, for example, can also be used as a starting point for hikes and until then you can ride your bike.
In summer, the restaurant, which is located at the beginning of the Piste du Roncu, invites you to take a break.

From the restaurant it goes a little downhill, then you turn right down to the Figarella river. There are bathing pools and bizarre rock formations. In the further course you follow forest roads and can test your condition on dead-end paths in the mountains. You have a wonderful view of the valley and the mountains opposite for almost the entire part of the route.

Back in the valley, you pass a beautifully situated winery before you hit the road again. There you can either turn left and return the same way you came, or turn right and make a detour via Calenzana.
