High up on the hilltop

With its 62 km and almost 1000 meters in altitude, this is one of the more demanding tours in terms of fitness. As you’ve probably noticed, I’m more of a touring rider and don’t look for the ultimate kick every time I get on the MTB. I also like to look at the area and enjoy the time on the bike, including this tour.

If you follow the route, you will first come to Montemaggiore and have already managed the biggest ascent at the Bocca di Salvi. Then we go to San Cesareo and Sant Antonino. The village can be seen from afar on the hilltop. Winding alleyways and cosy cafés are good reasons to take a break.

After Sant Antonino, take the path towards the cemetery, but turn right beforehand. Descending the other side of the mountain you will pass the ruins of Sant Anghjulu and then to Corbara.

If you have time and desire, you should take a look at Pigna on the way back. This is one of the most beautiful mountain villages here. Via Cateri and Lavatoggio you come to Lumio. In order to avoid the main road, turn off towards Clos Culombu shortly before leaving Lumio. There are very nice paths through the winery and on the other side you meet the small road from Montemaggiore for the way back to Calvi.
