Shady Paths - impressive Panorama

The starting point for a hike to the 1937 m high Monte Grosso is in Calenzana. You can drive by car to a parking lot at “A Flatta”, a very nicely located hotel and restaurant, or you can start on foot in Calenzana.
If you want to fill up your water supplies with fresh spring water, you can do so on the way to “A Flatta”. There is a spring on the right about halfway between Calenzana and A Flatta.

The Monte Grosso is the northernmost located almost 2000m mountain on Corsica and offers a magnificent panorama. To the north you have a clear view of the coast and to the south you can see the rest of the Monte Cinto massif. Very few other adventurers are found here, even in summer.

The entire ascent is on the north side of the mountain massif and runs mostly in a forest area. Here, as in many of Corsica’s forests, you will find majestic black pines, some of which are centuries old. The “Pin Laricio de Corse” is a Corsican subspecies and grows up to 30 meters high.
The shady path is very pleasant, especially in summer. It starts out rather flat, but gets steeper and steeper the higher you get. There are no climbing spots and no technical challenges. However, the tour is still demanding due to the altitude difference to be overcome.
Once at the top, the two peaks reveal a panorama that is impressive and can undoubtedly compete with those of the higher mountains in Corsica.
The descent follows the same route.

If you also ride MTBs, you can cycle the tour up to an altitude of approx. 700 m and hike from there. An old forest path leads to there and offers a pleasant descent for the way back into the valley.
