Somehow over the hill

To anticipate – if you want to ride this tour completely, you can’t avoid getting your bike up the mountain almost 200 meters in altitude somehow over rocks and through macchia bushes…

From Calvi we head back towards the Revellata peninsula and then continue along the beautiful west coast. This time on an east wind day, so it was an almost windless spring morning on this side of the mountains.

You drive to the Plage de Argentella and then you turn left into the maquis. Now the path continues uphill to about 420 m. Below you can see the ruins of the mine and the small reservoir Lac de L’Argentella. The path is easy to drive, even if no one has used it for a long time, apart from a few cows.
The site is part of the old L’Argentella mine, where silver, lead and copper were mined underground from the 16th to the 20th century. The main mining areas were at an altitude of approx. 440 m, which is probably the reason for the well-preserved path. The view of the Baie de Crovani is very beautiful and definitely worth it.

Since there is a path on the other side of the Bocca di Lecciola, I wanted to cross the mountain range at this point.
Well – there were still almost 200 vertical meters that the bike had to be carried over rocks and gravel, pulled steeply uphill through thorny bushes, pushed and lifted over heels. Long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt are definitely recommended.

So, if anyone else has fun with it, you’re welcome – that’s up to you, of course 😉

The path on the other side down to Marsulinu is very rocky, but still (at least downhill) mobile.
Now go up the road to the Bocca di Marsulinu and then downhill to Calvi.
