On foot on the Revellata Peninsula

The tour described always leads as close as possible to the coast along and around the Revellata peninsula.

If you follow the Sentier de Littoral west of Calvi, you will experience the beauty of this rocky coast up close. There are small sandy coves and rocky sections with huge granite boulders. An early start in summer is worthwhile as there is hardly any shade on this tour. The afternoon is also delightful as there are very often spectacular sunsets on the second half of the tour on the west coast. Please also remember to have enough drinking water.

When you arrive at the Revellata Peninsula, you will find the Plage de l’Alga, which lives up to its name. White sand is hidden under the many seaweeds that have accumulated here. There used to be a small coffee here, which has given way to the renaturation of many bays in the Balagne. However, the naturalness and originality of the island is preserved in a way that hardly exists in Europe.

However, it is worth having your bathing suit with you, as there are always picturesque bays on the east side. In summer, the bays closest to the road are quite crowded, but a few meters further on, things get quieter here too. The path leads to the Point de Revellata, the northernmost tip of the peninsula, where the lighthouse is also located. There are always beautiful views of the citadel of Calvi with the mountains in the background.

The steep coast of the west side is characterized by different coloured jagged rock formations. The sea and the sometimes very strong westerly winds have left their mark here. There are also fewer hikers on this part of the way, sometimes nobody at all outside of the main season. It keeps going up and down until you finally arrive at the parking lot at an altitude of about 110 m.

If you haven’t had enough, follow the route for another 90 meters of altitude up to the small church Notre Dame de la Serra. The reward is a wonderful view of Calvi Bay. From here you go straight down to Calvi.
