The Revellata Peninsula to the west of Calvi has something to offer for every type of exercise. There are few shady spots, but you can cool off in one of the picturesque bays. There are all types of paths – for hiking, for running and for MTB. The hiking trail that leads along the west side of the island is hardly passable by bike, but all other paths are. In the summer you should be considerate of the people walking around, who are quite numerous on nice days.

A dirt road leads to the peninsula up to the lighthouse at the top, which is still in operation. The lighthouse shone for the first time on December 1, 1844, at that time still operated with vegetable oil. Just below is a marine biological research institute which was founded in 1972. STARESO (Station de Recherches Sous-Marines et Océanografique) is a non-profit organization and monitors the Gulf of Calvi here. Since the peak tourist season in Corsica is only about 2 months and there is no industry in the Gulf of Calvi, this is one of the few places in the Mediterranean where such research can be carried out.

The tours described here takes you along paths that you can easily cycle on even in summer. The changing of the seasons can be seen quite clearly on the peninsula. In spring, a carpet of flowers partially covers the landscape, which has dried out in summer.
Especially with the bike you should pay attention to the sometimes quite strong winds in spring and autumn. There are a few spots on the peninsula that act like a jet and increase the wind even more.

Many variations of the route are possible, from quite relaxed to more technically demanding. A tour on the peninsula promises a lot of fun in any case.
At the end you just have to climb the hill again, either via the access road or along the coast.
